Diagnostics

What the Diagnostics page checks and what a copied report contains.

Open Help, then Diagnostics, when something does not work. Each check shows a result in plain words and what to do next.

What it checks#

  • App version. The version you run.
  • macOS. Pressmark needs macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
  • Workspace. That the workspace folder exists and can be written to.
  • Disk space. Free space where the workspace lives. Under 10 GB is a warning, under 2 GB a failure.
  • Clock. Your Mac's local time and its offset from UTC.
  • Each content folder. That the folder exists and Pressmark may read it. If macOS blocks access, the result says where to grant it. With no folder yet, this says to add one on the Sources page.
  • Model provider. The claude command line: whether it is found, and the result of its last test on the Integrations page.
  • Public reads. That reads of your public publication are allowed, with the number left this hour, or why they are paused.

Copy report#

Copy report puts a short text report on the clipboard so you can send it to support or paste it into a message. You can read it before you send it.

It includes: each check's result, the number of sources, posts and publications, the Python version and the machine type, and the name of the model provider.

Before it is built, the report is scrubbed. Your home folder path becomes ~, email addresses become <email>, values after words such as token, key, secret, cookie or password are removed, and any long run of letters and digits (32 characters or more) is removed.

It holds no text from your posts, and no tokens, cookies or keys.
